Was Jennifer Lopez’s Life Put At Risk on Private Plane?
December 16, 2011 No CommentsA-list celebrities are said to get all the perks, from top notch private travel to the best hotel accomodations, clothes, jewels, spa treatments, you name it! But more and more, it is coming to light that some of these perks can be detrimental and even downright deadly for stars. Everything from star- struck doctors who ignore their sacred oaths and bend to the will of their celebs patients, to private jets that don’t always have the same FAA standards to up keep as commericial flights do, can all put a celebrity’s life at risk.
Now, pilot George Thomsen who was employed by private charter jet company, Crystal Air Aviation, alleges that the private jet company that celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Lebron James and Charlie Sheen have all repeatedly used for their travel, has failed countless times to fully comply with FAA regulations, putting their famous and non-famous passengers in harm’s way, repeatedly.
According to a new article in Star Magazine, and as reported by AOL, “Thomsen was so distraught by the unsafe conditions stars like Jennifer Lopez, Charlie Sheen and LeBron James were forced to fly in, he left his job after only six weeks. Upon his resignation, he sent a letter to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) detailing the laundry list of safety issues putting Crystal Air’s celeb and non-celeb customers at risk.”
In a letter dated November 23, 2011, George Thomsen wrote to the FAA, stating that, “[there] were major safety issues by allowing the aircraft to fly,” referring to a private flight that Lopez was on.
Thomsen told Star Magazine, “My whole career of 42 years of flying has been about safety. These guys [look] for whatever way possible to shortchange training, shortchange maintenance and jeopardize safety. They are jeopardizing safety and lives.”
In fact, George Thomsen insists that Crystal Air, the private jet company that “J.Lo frequently charters flights from,” put the singer’s life in jeopardy by having her fly on a chartered jet that was “unfit to be in the air.”
Although luxurious and private accomodations in the air do seem enviable, statistically and safety-wise, people are actually safer on commerical flights, where commerical airlines are strictly monitored by Federal Aviation standards and requirements.
JLo, maybe you should try JetBlue for your next trip!
