Eva Longoria Launches Movie Career as Desperate Housewives Winds Down
August 28, 2011 No CommentsEven though Desperate Housewives is soon coming to an end and will begin airing its final season this fall, don’t worry about its breakout star, Eva Longoria. The petite Latin hottie didn’t only swap her basketball hubby for Penelope Cruz’s lil brother, Eduardo Cruz. Eva Longoria is primed to swap her television stardom for movie star status. Longoria already has several promising films in the pipeline and she has chosen to go the “I want to be take seriously route” with some offbeat independent films that will roll out this year.
First up will be, according to AOL Huff Post, Long Time Gone, where Eva Longoria will play the other woman who steals Meg Ryan’s husband (still in the vein of her saucy Housewives character that made her a star), and next up is a quirky indie called Who Gets The Dog, about an ex-couple fighting over custody of their beloved pet pooch.
Industry trade, Variety, also reports that Longoria “just starred in the small indie Without Men about a Latin American village that sees all of its men forcibly recruited by guerilla forces and taken away, leaving her to become the de facto leader of the village.” This one sounds like Longoria will be stretching and perhaps showing her chops as an actress.
Afterwards Longoria will appear in, Cristiada, about the Mexican Cristero War, followed by dark comedy, The Baytown Disco, in which she plays a woman who convinces three less-than-intelligent men to rescue her from whom she calls an abusive husband.”
Interesting stuff, and from the looks of Eva Longoria’s fast developing movie resume, she is probably somewhat anxious to put her Desperate Housewives character, Gabrielle, behind her. Watch your back Jennifer Aniston, there’s a new TV-star-turned-movie goddess coming your way!
