Mariska Hargitay Adopts Again… A Baby Boy Named Andrew Nicolas Hargitay Hermann

Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay and her husband Peter Hermann are giving Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt a run for their money when it comes to adoption. Of course I am kidding! And as an advocate for adoption, I am very happy for Hargitay and Hermann!

After adopting a little girl, Amaya Josephine, a mere six months ago, making Mariska Hargitay’s dream of having a daughter become a reality, the couple have already brought home another little bundle of joy. Introducing Mariska and Peter’s third child: Andrew Nicolas Hargitay Hermann, a baby boy who was born this past summer.

The couples’ rapidly growing brood now includes biological child, August,5 years old, as well as little princess Amaya and newborn Andrew.

Commenting on their quick succession of adoptions, Mariska Hargitay told People.com, “We never in a million years thought it would happen this quickly, but something inside of us knew that this was right, and we said, ‘Yes, yes, yes!’”

Hargitay went on to explain, “We knew this was our guy. Everything about it felt right. It felt divinely right.”

When Mariska Hargitay announced that she would be scaling back a bit in her role as Detective Olivia Benson on the longrunning crime drama, Law & Order: SVU, many wondered why the sudden need to work less? Now with the unveiling of two beautiful adopted babies, the reason is apparant. According to the People.com article, Mariska will continue working a 4 day work week, which is likely scaled down from a 5-6 day workweek when Hargitay was carrying the lead role on SVU.

When I spoke with Mariska’s SVU co-star Ice-T for PR.com a few months back, Ice-T had this to say about Mariska’s request to go from leading role to supporting role on Law & Order: SVU:

“From what I understand Mariska wanted to work less, so that’s done.”

One thing that’s not done for Mariska Hargitay is diaper duty, which the actress will be knee deep in for some time to come. But, Mariska is in baby bliss, telling People that her two new babies have already bonded. “They’ll lie in the crib together, and she’ll hold his hand and put her arm around him,” gushes Hargitay.
