Will You Watch Paula & Simon Go At It Tonight?

It seems every time we turn around there is another singing competition on television: American Idol, The Voice, The Sing-Off and now, drum roll please… The X Factor, Simon Cowell’s British baby has washed upon our American shores. The weirdest part is that Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul have taken their sexual tension over to The X Factor from American Idol and one has to wonder, why?

Is The X Factor‘s premise just that much more appealing to the dueling twosome, or was the money better? The X Factor is banking (no pun intended) on their gimmick of giving the winner of their singing competition $5 million dollars as their angle to draw excited and loyal viewers. What do you guys think? Is having $5 million big ones on the line compelling enough to keep you on the edge of your seet week after week? And just what is it about talent competitions that intriques the American, and British, viewing public so much?
