Tiger Woods Lands Endorsement Deal with Rolex
October 5, 2011 No CommentsAfter two years of personal scandal and a professional downturn, things are looking up for Tiger Woods. The former golf great has landed his first major endorsement deal in two years, as a brand ambassador for Rolex.
According to the Washington Post, the terms of Woods’ deal will be longer than five years. The Washington Post goes on to say, “The Rolex deal is far more significant, and it was announced the day Woods returned to the PGA Tour at the Frys.com Open. His agent at Excel Sports Management, Mark Steinberg, promised more deals to come.”
Tiger Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, expressed that the new major endorsement deal with Rolex is a barrometor for where things stand with his star golf client. Steinberg predicts a lot more major deals to come Woods’ way, following this new Rolex endorsement, explaining that it’s a mark of credibility for Woods, and the start of his re-invention in the golf world, and as a brand, himself.
This is not Tiger Woods’ first deal with Rolex. “Woods had an endorsement deal with Tudor, a Rolex brand, when he first turned pro.”
When Tiger Woods’ marriage fell apart amid sweeping allegations of infidelity, his golf game suffered tremendously. With 14 majors and 82 wins worldwide to his credit, Woods hadn’t placed at all since he won the Australian Masters on Nov. 15, 2009, before his personal world crumbled on a world stage.
