TLC Singer Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins Files for Bankruptcy
November 28, 2011 No CommentsIn an article titled, ‘CrazySexyBankruptcy” TMZ reports that T-Boz, one third of the mega-nineties girl group TLC, has filed for bankruptcy. T-Boz (real name Tionne Watkins) filed her bankruptcy petition last month in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, citing $768,642.99 in unpayable debt, mostly due to “mortgages on Watkins’ $1.2 million dollar house,” reports TMZ.
Although TLC fell apart after group member Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes’s untimely death from a car crash in 2001, the Atlanta-based R&B sensation was, at one time, the biggest selling girl group in history. TLC collectively scored ten top ten singles, four number one singles, four multi-platinum albums, and four Grammy Awards. TLC’s 1995 studio album CrazySexyCool sold 15 million copies, worldwide.
According to Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins’ bankruptcy petition, the singer only rakes in a meager $1200.00 per month in album royalties. What’s worse than that lowly sum, is the fact that T-Boz also claims in her bankruptcy petition that she is owed $250,000.00 in back child support, adding to the singer’s current financial hardship.
