Charlie Sheen seems more grounded these days with a clearer perspective on some of his antics from this past year. Sheen tells Matt Lauer in an exclusive interview with NBC’s Today Show that he took all of the sharp ribbing from his Comedy Central roast in stride, elluding to the fact that he kinda deserved it.

Charlie Sheen even went on to make a humble mea culpa to the producers of his former CBS sitcom, Two and a Half Men, saying that he is supportive of their decision to hire Ashton Kutcher as his replacement, even going on to say he plans to watch the new incarnation of Two and a Half Men and hopes to appear in the final episode of the show as a guest star.

The arrogant self-proclained “bitchin’ rockstar from Mars” was nowhere to be found in this new Charlie Sheen interview, and Sheen seemed logical and down-to-earth. Whether is was drugs and alcohol that precipitated Sheen’s bizarre behavior earlier this year or some kind of emotional breakdown, it’s nice to see that the talented actor is back on course and looking foward to tackling new projects, like his upcoming sitcom, Anger Management, which is currently in development.

Flying Torpedo

Charlie Sheen took to the stage on Saturday, August 13, 2011, bringing his hot mess Violent Torpedo of Truth act to the Gathering of the Juggalos annual rap concert which featured acts like Insane Clown Posse, Lil John, Busta Rhymes, Bobby Brown, Paul Wall and Flavor Flav; an eclectic bunch to say the least.

The rowdy crowd that was gathered to hear music was not feeling Charlie Sheen’s Violent Torpedo of Truth message and began to boo and throw some torpedos of their own, in the form of soda cans and anything the crowd could pick up and pelt at the former Two and a Half Men star.

Charlie Sheen seemed to take the extreme heckling in stride, at one point saying to the crowd, “Shit, I feel like I’m back in Detroit!” citing his disasterous debut concert performance that began his Violent Torpedo of Truth mega-flop.

We have to admit that Sheen never seems to lose his off color sense of humor, further commenting to the crowd while dodging various pieces of trash thrown at him, “[I] should have worn my f*cking goggles,” and announcing that he would leave the stage to make way for the next musical act “before I’m impaled.”

Two and a Half Men has been a CBS television staple for as long as I can remember. The show’s quick-witted writing and chemistry between the three original “men” along with their self-indulgent mother and toocloseforcomfort outspoken housekeeper made for a classic sitcom formula from the beginning.

Despite Charlie Sheen’s rantings about his former collaborator and boss, Chuck Lorre knows good TV. But what do you think about the new Two and a Half Men cast with Ashton Kutcher as the show’s new lovable badboy? Is Charlie Sheen replacable? I guess those questions remain to be seen once Two and a Half Men returns from hiatus this September starring Kutcher. CBS has certainly done a crafty job of keeping us all guessing about the new dynamic that Ashton Kutcher will bring to the mix.

On the gossip front, according to TMZ, the Two and a Half Men set is still full of Charlie Sheen supporters who have been less than warm and welcoming to Kutcher and his double decker mega-trailer isn’t helping matters.

TMZ reports, “there are still plenty of Team Sheen people working on the show … and we’re told they feel the mega-trailer is ‘over the top’ and makes Kutcher come off like a ‘diva.’”

AOL TV reports that “production on the new season of [Two and a Half Men] begins in early August and the behind-the-scenes powers are keeping details close to their chest.”

As for Men replacement, Ashton Kutcher, Kutcher stated, “I can’t replace Charlie Sheen but I’m going to work my a** off to entertain the hell out of people!”

Fair enough.

This new incarnation of Two and a Half Men will premiere Monday, Sept. 19 at 9PM on CBS.

Winning!

Perhaps Charlie Sheen was right and knew something we didn’t. Despite the iconic sitcom actor’s relationship struggles and his addiction issues, Sheen is definitely “winning” in the career department, not to mention financially. Charlie Sheen just inked a deal to star in a sitcom version of the 2003 hit comedy film, Anger Management, by the same title, complete with a lucrative back-end deal. Lionsgate Television made the announcement this afternoon, stating, “Sheen will retain significant ownership stake in the series inspired by the film.”

Commenting on his choice of television projects, Charlie Sheen stated, “I chose Anger Management because, while it might be a big stretch for me to play a guy with serious anger management issues, I think it is a great concept.”

Sheen’s brilliant straight man routine continues to reign supreme with audiences, and it’s that smug dry humor that drew millions to watch Two and a Half Men week after week for years, and still does in syndication.

It’s Charlie Sheen’s combination of off-the-wall real-life antics combined with his on-screen dry observant wit that will likely make Anger Management television sitcom gold, leaving Two and a Half Men starring Ashton Kutcher on potentially shaky ground.

Troubled Twosome

The more I learn about Brooke Mueller (yes, I saw some episodes of The World According to Paris, so sue me!) the more clear it is that she and Charlie Sheen, as a couple, spells major trouble for them and for their twin boys, Bob and Max. Two addicts who have a poor track record of sustaining their sobriety do not belong in a relationship together. The Brooke Mueller and Charlie Sheen coupling, was and still is, a recipe for disaster.

According to a report by TMZ, “Brooke is saying, right after the last ‘Goddess’ left Charlie’s world, Brooke began hanging with Charlie at his home, where he’s been a virtual shut-in recently.”

I think it’s great if Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller can build and maintain a cordial relationship for the sake of their two sons, but move on Brooke! Find yourself a nice school teacher, an accountant or lawyer, or I don’t know, someone who doesn’t do an eight-ball of cocaine for breakfast.

The TMZ article goes on to claim, “Brooke is saying, ‘forget all the drama.’ She has a good time with [Charlie Sheen] and they have a lot in common, including twins. But Brooke acknowledges if they take it to the next level there are perils, given the toxic relationship they terminated with divorce.” Uh, ya think?

Brooke, you’d be better off to continue to let the Hiltons fix you up on more blind dates.

According to sources who divulged Brooke Mueller’s personal business to the streets of Hollywood, Mueller is telling friends that “the door is partially open” for a reconcilation with Charlie Sheen.

Denise Richards One Hot Momma!

Denise Richards has adopted a daughter, now making her a mother of three girls.

The actress is already mom to Sam and Lola from her troubled marriage to actor Charlie Sheen, and now she’s added a new female addition to her brood, little Eloise Joni Richards.

Denise Richards’ rep, Jill Fritzo, spoke to People.com stating, “Eloise Joni Richards is named after Denise’s mom (Joni), and Denise and her daughters Sami and Lola chose the name Eloise. Denise and Eloise’s big sisters couldn’t be happier and feel incredibly blessed.”

Richards’ mother, Joni Richards, passed away in 2007 after a long battle with cancer. I guess single motherhood agrees with Denise Richards and I wish her the best of luck with this new addition to her family.

In 2009 I sat down for an interview with Denise Richards to talk about work, her ex-Charlie Sheen, and motherhood, and here are some of her comments from that time, as told to me for the website PR.com:

PR.com: What does your ex-husband now think about your daughters being on camera for the show? Last season, I know he was kind of up in arms about it.

Denise Richards: He was actually very supportive this season. He saw how little they were on last season, as did a lot of people who gave me a lot of flak for it. There are nice moments that I will have forever. I never would have gotten a video of my daughter saying their Nana was their angel. Stuff like that. They’re in it very little and as a parent I’m so proud of them, and think it’s very cute. I don’t think my girls are exploited. If they like being around me it’s because they get to be with me, and if they want to be filmed great, if they don’t they walk away and I don’t care. But Charlie is actually very supportive this season.

PR.com: What qualities did you gain from growing up in Downers Grove, Illinois? How did the place shape you?

Denise Richards: When we went back I saw this, and I was so happy to see it, [that] people really value their family and their friends. They love get-togethers, and even when we went back there and we looked at our old house, they invited us back for a dinner and drinks. They’re just very kind people. You always go back to your roots, and I think that’s part of it; just being loyal and kind.

PR.com: What prompted your family to move out to California from Illinois?

Denise Richards: My dad worked for the phone company and he worked outside. There was one winter where he was watching some show, like a Battle of the Network Stars, where celebrities compete outside. And my dad thought it was pre-taped in the summer and it wasn’t, and he thought it was impossible that these people were wearing T-shirts. So he got the newspaper and everyday looked at the weather report in California and said, “This is bullshit!” He went out there with my mom and said, “We’re moving.” And so he got a job transfer because he could not deal with the winters. That’s how we moved (laughs).

Perennial drug addict Charlie Sheen has admitted in an interview with Sports Illustrated Magazine that while making the movie, Major League back in the late 1980s, he used illegal steroids to enhance his performance as a fictional baseball pitcher.

Sheen told Sports Illustrated, “Let’s just say that I was enhancing my performance a little bit.” Charlie Sheen then defended that “it was the only time I ever used steroids.” Citing how significantly his steroid use improved his baseball skills, Sheen recounted, “You can print this. I don’t give a f*ck. My fastball went from 79 to like 85 [miles-per-hour].”

Charlie Sheen did then admit that he suffered some of the common side effects of steroid use, including irritability and a short fuse, causing him to stop taking steroids after what he claims was a period of six to eight weeks of steroid use, allegedly during the film’s production.

Charlie Sheen admits that he came close to engaging in some physical altercations with strangers when people mocked his famous Major League haircut that he sported for the classic baseball film. “I didn’t like the haircut,” Sheen explains, “because it generated so many comments in bars. I’ve got enough of that already. Add that to the mix and it’s a recipe for a fistfight.”

Sure, Charlie Sheen’s recent admission of steroid use is newsworthy, but it’s hardly shocking since Sheen is a lifelong addict, and addicts will look for any excuse to use. The 1989 movie, Major League was just one in a string of many excuses Charlie Sheen has likely used for abusing illegal drugs and alcohol over the years.

If Charlie Sheen’s next role was playing famous Colombian druglord Pablo Escobar, he would be in hog heaven doing research for that performance, don’t you think?
