the beginning of the end for Kardashians?

Despite an avalanche of negative publicity surrounding Kim Kardashian’s hasty and ostentatious wedding, and even hastier divorce, and an anti-Kardashian petition which boasts an estimated 165,000 disgruntled signatures, last night’s season 2 premiere of Kourtney And Kim Take New York held its own in the Nielson ratings, with just under 3.2 million viewers tuning in.

Whether it was morbid curiousity, the Kardashians’ loyal hardcore fanbase, or a little bit of both, just shy of 3.2 million people felt compelled to watch Kim and Kourtney Kardashian’s New York exploits, but more importantly, to watch the beginning of the implosion of Kim’s doomed marriage to NBA star, Kris Humphries.

According to a news report from the E! Network, this season’s premiere episode of Kourtney And Kim Take New York “exceeded last season’s premiere by +6%.” E! also points out that the show does very well among females ages 18-49, which is kind of stating the obvious. We could all assume the basic demographics of Kardashians fans.

While just under 3.2 million viewers is generally considered a very respectable rating for a basic cable television show, it is actually a slight disappointment to E! if you consider some of the ratings that the Kardashian franchise has pulled in over the past few years. Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event scored E! a whopping 10.5 million viewers in total, over the two-part television special’s first run in August of 2011. Kim’s wedding provided E! with their most watch television program in the history of the network. Last season’s installment of the Kardashian flagship series, Keeping Up With the Kardashians was in the lead among cable network shows, taking in an average of 4.3 million viewers during its Sunday night slot.

I would guess that, pre-divorce fiasco, E! was anticipating at least 4 million viewers to tune into Kourtney & Kim Take New York. If Kourtney & Kim Take New York continues to hold firm at over 3 million viewers per episode we would consider the second season a solid hit for E!. However, if the show tops off at just under 3.2 million in the cable network Nielson ratings and takes a downward slide as the series progresses over the next two months, it could spell trouble for the Kardashian television empire.

Kim admits she got "caught up in the hoopla"

Kim Kardashian has opened up on her own blog about why her 72 day marriage to Kris Humphries ended in divorce, and the reality star insists that she married for what she thought was true love, and not money.

Here is Kim’s official, and very personal, statement post to her blog:

“Everyone that knows me knows that I’m a hopeless romantic! I love with all of my heart and soul. I want a family and babies and a real life so badly that maybe I rushed in to something too soon. I believed in love and the dream of what I wanted so badly. I felt like I was on a fast roller coaster and couldn’t get off when now I know I probably should have. I got caught up with the hoopla and the filming of the TV show that when I probably should have ended my relationship, I didn’t know how to and didn’t want to disappoint a lot of people.”

Kim also blogged:

“I am trying not to read all the different media reports but it’s hard not to see all the negative ones. First and foremost, I married for love. I can’t believe I even have to defend this. I would not have spent so much time on something just for a TV show!”

The above quote is likely a subtle message to the New York Post newspaper that wrote a scathing cover story about Kardashian in yesterday’s paper, calling her wedding to Kris Humphries a “Big A$$ Scam” and claiming that Kim Kardashian is a money grubbing “shrew” who is “not capable of anything as natural as love.” I have to say, that NY Post article was extremely libelous, not backed by any real facts, and just plain cruel.

Kim Kardashian claims that she did not make all of the millions off of her wedding that the media is saying she made, and she plans on donating her wedding gifts to The Dream Foundation, a non-profit organization that the Kardashian family has been involved with for quite some time.

As for mamma bear, Kris Jenner, Kris was on a media tour for her new book yesterday, and spent much of her air time defending her daughter, Kim. Kris Jenner stated that not only did Kim not cash in on her wedding, but that she actually “spent millions of dollars of her own money” on the doomed nuptials.

Kris Jenner, when pressed on her true feelings for Kris Humphries, said, “Kris is a good guy,” and she left it at that.

As for little sister Khloe Kardashian, Khloe who is always one to speak her mind, according to Kathie Lee Gifford, was skeptical about the marriage’s chances from the get-go. Kathie Lee Gifford claims that at Kim and Kris’s wedding reception, Khloe walked by Gifford and sniffed, “I give it six effin months.” Ouch!

But, Khloe, you were actually a little too generous with those extra four months. You hopeless romantic, you!

After weeks of rumors and speculation E! News has confirmed that Kim Kardashian has decided to file for divorce from Kris Humphries, her husband of only 72 days! Kim Kardashian has cited “irreconcilable differences” on her divorce petition.

As E! News puts it, “Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries Divorcing! Unfortunately, Kim Kardashian’s fairy-tale romance has come to an abrupt end. The E! reality star is planning to file for divorce from Kris Humphries this morning, a little over two months after she and the basketballer wed in a wedding fit for a princess, E! News has confirmed.”

I guess dropping $10 million big ones on a lavish party doesn’t guarantee happiness, nor does declaring your nuptials “a fairytale wedding.”

As for the E! Network, they say in an official statement, “All of us at E! are surprised and saddened by this news, and we send our support to Kim and Kris at this difficult time. The Kardashians have always been uniquely open with all aspects of their lives from joyous events to intimate moments to heartbreaking transitions. E! will continue to share the fascinating real lives and larger-than-life existence of this close-knit family.”

Here is Kim Kardashian’s official statement regarding her split from Kris Humphries:

“After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”

As for Kris Humphries, he didn’t actually know his wife had filed a petition for divorce until the rest of us did. Kris Humphries put out his own statement, saying, “I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce … I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.” Humphries has supposedly told friends that he does not believe in divorce.

Bringing scents to the Arab World

Newlywed E! television reality star-fashion entrepreneur-perfumer, Kim Kardashian, headed to the Middle East on Wednesday, with her momager, Kris Jenner in tow. The Kardashian mom and daughter power duo landed in United Arab Emirates by private plane, where they were escorted through the airport to their lavish hotel accomodations at Atlantis The Palm Hotel in Dubai.

Kim couldn’t contain her newfound love for the Middle Eastern city, exclaiming via her Twitter page, “Just touched down in Dubai! I’m so happy to be here!”

Kim Kardashian then went on to tweet, “Wow I’m in such awe over Dubai! My hotel is so insane, can’t wait to do some blogs & show u guys! Too much to tweet! I’m obsessed with Dubai!”

Aside from making an appearance at the official launch of the first Millions of Milkshakes store to open outside of the U.S., Kim Kardashian is in Dubai to launch her signature fragrance at the Sephora store in a Dubai Mall.

Kim’s first trip to the Middle East was first class all the way. Aside from top notch security detail and a luxurious hote suite, Kardashian arrived into the city of Dubai in high style, noting that she had flown into Dubai on the “best plane” she had ever been on.

The inexhaustible reality star turned mega-mogul doesn’t slow down for a minute, even telling Arabian Business that she was looking into other business ventures in the region that would possibly include “a Kardashian hotel or night club in Dubai if the opportunity was right.”

As Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries prepare to share their fairytale wedding with the world on E! this Sunday and Monday night, the newlyweds dished exclusively to E! about married life and living out of hotels while Kim filmed Kim & Kourtney Take New York. The reality TV pair also spill details to E! about Kim’s cooking prowess, where they might settle down (Kris is still a free agent since leaving the New Jersey Nets), and when they’ll start making babies!

While Kris feels a dramatic difference since transitioning from boyfriend into husband, Kim insists that, for her, marriage feels like a perennial dating season. Kris told E! news, “It feels different every day, really I feel like we’re more and more married.”

But according to Kim, “It doesn’t feel any different to be married than to be dating, it’s exactly the same,” explaining that the wedding was the hard part for her.

In response to questions about her skills in the kitchen, Kim told E!, “It’s hard because we’re stuck in New York City in a hotel, so he asked me the other day, he said he really wants a home-cooked meal and I’m like, ‘But we’re not in a home. There’s no kitchen, there’s no stove!’”

And when will Kim and Kris start their family?

Kim told E!, “I think we would wait, like, a year before we really start trying to have kids… I think we want to figure out where he is gonna play and figure out his career, and like, if we have to pack up and move somewhere, like the Midwest. Who knows?”

Kim Kardashian, a midwestern housewife?!

So far their marriage seems like a playful game of ‘he said, she said’ but one thing ‘KK’ agrees on for the future… “Lots of kids!”

According to Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’ wedding guest and longtime Kardashian/Jenner family friend, Kathie Lee Gifford, guests who were lucky enough to snag an invitation to Kim Kardashian’s wedding were lavished with expensive and “Kardashian” branded swag bags as they exited the regal nuptials, on Saturday, August 20, 2011.

Kathie Lee Gifford was so taken with the outrageous Kardashian Humphries wedding gift bag that Gifford just had to share some of it on the air!

According to AOL Huff Post, some of the Kardashian wedding gifts that attendees received included:

“Flip-flops bedazzled with the words “Kim loves Kris,”; Cosmetic bag with nail polishes boasting phrases such as “Wel-Kim to the family,” “Here’s Kim[s] the bride,” and “I pink he’s the one.”; – Customized heart-shaped Krispy Kreme donuts and cookies,” and, of course, “gift certificate to ShoeDazzle.com.” Oh, and no wedding bag would be complete without the bride’s newest signature fragrance, aptly named Kim Kardashian.

As outspoken and enthused wedding guest Kathie Lee reported, “If it’s possible to steal the thunder from Kim Kardashian-Humphries, it was Mason. He was just the cutest thing,” Kathie Lee said on TODAY. “It just made it so human.” As opposed to alien??

According to sources in attendance, the Kardashians have an official logo which was included on the wedding gift bag items.

Love Triangle?

According to this week’s Life & Style Magazine, which hits newsstands Wednesday, August 11, 2011, Kim Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend, Reggie Bush wants the famous socialite back, and won’t leave her alone.

According to the Life & Style article, Reggie Bush is distraught over Kim Kardashian’s impending nuptials to her NBA fiance Kris Humphries, so much so, that Bush has been bombarding Kardashian with pleading text messages, asking Kim to call off her wedding and consider taking Bush back. Nevermind the fact that Kim’s wedding is mere weeks away, all of the arrangements have been made, TV and magazine deals have been brokered, and Reggie Bush had ample time to step up to the plate and propose throughout their three year relationship.

According to Life & Style, “[Reggie's] been sending text messages to Kim and leaving her voicemails telling her she’s making a mistake, and he’s the one for her.”

The Life & Style article goes on to report, “In the past, Kim was friendly to Reggie, but now she’s stopped responding. He was begging her to call off the wedding and give him another chance.”

The article also claims that Reggie Bush is telling people close to him that Kim Kardashian is “the one that got away.”

Despite Reggie Bush’s alleged best efforts to win back his ex, Kim Kardashian is plowing full speed ahead with her over-the-top wedding to Kris Humphries, and of course turning her wedding into a lucrative business deal, complete with an E! television special that will reportedly be titled, “Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event” and a People Magazine spread.

We just hope Kim is getting married for love rather than business!

Poor Man's Kim Kardashian?

Kim Kardashian is stark raving mad over an Old Navy advertising campaign featuring a look-a-like and act-a-like model in the dicount clothing chain’s print ads and commercial ads. What makes matters worse is that this Kim K look-a-like was also rumored to be dating Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend, NFL star, Reggie Bush. Some tabloids even insinuated that she was a lower-maintanence version of Kim and that is what attracted Bush to the less known sexy brunette model and Old Navy singer.

Now Kim Kardashian has filed a lawsuit against Old Navy claiming damages of up to $20 million to the reality star. Her claim being supported by all of the publicity Old Navy has received at Kim’s expense.

The blog JSYK recently commented on the uncanny resemblence to Kim Kardashian, saying, “Without looking too deeply into it, a casual watcher would totally think Kim was rocking budget-friendly duds for the retailer, especially when she’s using the phrase “super cute.” But on second glance, it’s more like the stars of the commercial are a hybrid of Kim and the Black Eyed Peas.”

As Fox News reported today, Kardashian doesn’t find anything “super cute” about this alleged Kardashian rip-off routine, but Old Navy could argue in court that Kim Kardashian does not have the sole trademark on petite curvy brunette good looks, and while the singer and model in their ads does bare a striking resemblence to Kim Kardashian, nowhere is Old Navy claiming that she is Kim, or even using Kim’s name… er, except on Twitter, a site that Kardashian frequents.

Adding insult to injury, Old Navy Tweeted to Kim Kardashian’s Twitter page, “@CBSNEWS reports that Old Navy’s Super CUTE star looks like @kimkardashian. #LOL. What do you think?”

I have interviewed Kim Kardashian twice: once in the winter of 2009 and then again very recently, a couple of weeks ago for the newswire, PR.com as part of her promotion for the sixth season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. We spoke at great length about not only her excitement over her relationship with Kris Humphries and their recent engagement, but also her willingness to introduce Kris Humphries to the public on the sixth season of her E! reality show.

When I asked Kim how she decided to feature Kris Humphries on Keeping Up With The Kardashians and what made her feel safe enough to do so, she confessed to me during our conversation, “Well I met him when I was still in New York, so we had a good six months of us together, by ourselves, without any of that involved. And I was like, ‘Oh God! I just can’t go through this anymore!’ So I’m not going to have just anyone on the show. It’s just really weird, you know? I felt like I just wanted to get to know someone first, and thank God it was like that. I met him right at the end of New York so we were able to get to know each other on our own, privately. So then we knew that that’s what we wanted to do, and it works for us. So it was really good that we had that alone time.”

Kim then went on to tell me that her father, the late Robert Kardashian, would have been pleased with her choice in marrying Kris. “Oh, I think [my dad] would absolutely love [Kris], because he’s just really funny and just a good person, and you can tell. And the fact that he’s a Christian, I think that he would just really, really like him.”

I consider myself a pretty good judge of character, and do I think for one second that Kim Kardashian cheated on Kris Humphries? Absolutely not! Frankly, I don’t think it is in her nature to do something like that, not to mention that she seems extremely happy in her relationship.

So my question to Kim Kardashian is, why are you getting down in the mud with In Touch Weekly Magazine and their supposed “other man?” It’s beneath you, and a waste of your time and energy. Anyone who follows celebrity media can clearly see that In Touch Weekly has had some strange vendetta against Kim for years, probably because she rebuffed repeated requests for actual firsthand celebrity interviews with Kim and her family, and this is the only way they can write about her and capitalize on her success. Disgusting!

Kim, follow Angelina Jolie’s lead and simply ignore the bottom feeding tabloids who make up stupid stories. Ignore, Ignore, Ignore! Focus on the positive and let them write their little fake stories. Really, who cares, Kim? It is a poor public relations choice on your part to play ball with them in the press. If you must, fight it out in court, not in the court of public opinion. You’re just helping them sell magazines. My PR advice for you: misdirection. Replace their headlines with your own headlines about all of the things you are currently doing in your career, and to help other people, and you will then make these stories look small and unimportant.
